POST FALLS - Nathan Collier hammered two-run doubles in both games and the American Legion Prairie Cardinals swept a AA North Idaho League doubleheader from Lewis-Clark 6-1 and 4-3 on Sunday at Post Falls High School.

Collier hit a gapper in the fifth, scoring Gil Givens and Eric Cooper. Givens led off the inning with a hit, and moved to second in Cooper's single.

Tyler Shaffer struck out five and allowed three hits - all singles - to pick up his first win of the season in the first game.

Tyler Burnett and Derek Bumgarner also had doubles in Game 1.

In the second game, Collier did his damage in the third inning, bringing in two more Cardinal runners.

Jeremy McKinney struck out four in four innings of work, and Joe Schwalbach came on in relief in the fifth and threw three scoreless frames.

"Those were two good wins, but we still have a lot of work to do," Prairie coach Dustin Frank said.
