Gregory James Folk, 43, passed away in Coeur d’Alene on June 6, 2012. His family was by his bedside in his final moments. He suffered with M.S. for more than 20 years and after a long and courageous fight lost the battle. He will be missed.

Gregory was born in Silverton on April 18, 1969, to James L. and Linda L. (Fairweather) Folk. He was raised in the Silver Valley before moving to Post Falls with his family in 1984. Gregory graduated from Post Falls High School in 1987. He then moved to Bellevue, Wash., worked and resided there until he returned to Post Falls in the mid-90s.

Gregory worked as a heavy equipment operator and worked in many areas; Seattle, Hawaii, and on several local jobs.

Gregory enjoyed riding his ATV and the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing. His special love was basketball, as he played from the 3rd grade through high school.

He is survived by his son, Austin Isakson of Post Falls; parents, James and Linda Folk of Post Falls; sisters, Ronda Mein of Coeur d’Alene and Roberta Schoening of Post Falls; brother Kevin and wife Lena Folk of Athol; uncles and aunts, Robert and Mary Fairweather of Bellevue, Wash., Stan and Tina Fairweather of Colville, Wash., Jim and Anita Jacobsen of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; five nieces and three nephews; companion Tricia Goldsmith; best friend Tom Schoening; numerous cousins and extended family.

Gregory was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lucas and Myrtle Folk, Warren and Clarice Fairweather and Uncle Gary Fairweather.

The family would especially like to thank Ivy Court for all their loving care and compassion for Greg.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Real Life Ministries, Upper Room Building 1, 1866 N. Cecil Road, Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of the arrangements.
