Winds blamed for collision near George

GEORGE - An awning with a metal bar allegedly hit a parked vehicle Saturday near George, resulting in a Woodinville woman and a North Bend man being taken to the hospital.

The driver of the trailer with the awning was unknown over the weekend, according to the Washington State Patrol. The trailer kept going after the collision.

The state patrol cited severe crosswinds as the cause of the collision.

The 2005 Chevrolet Suburban that was struck was driven by Taylor M. Vallee, 21, of Woodinville. She was not injured.

Her passenger, Laurie M. Shay, 21, of Woodinville, was injured and airlifted by MedStar to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.

Another passenger, Theodore M. Wiseman, 21, of North Bend, was injured and transported to Quincy Valley Hospital in Quincy.

MOSES LAKE — Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin officials are warning people that scammers apparently are using the club’s logo and claiming to be affiliated with the organization. The scammers allegedly were soliciting money door to door along Third Avenue early Tuesday afternoon.
