COLUMN: 'Thank God for Fox News'

In response to Sholeh Patrick’s column in Thursday, June 7 Press, it has been noted by myself, and many of my friends, that your source of information appears to flow from the biased Associated Press. In addition, The New York Times is your authority on truth? Really?

Ahmadinejad, according to my Jewish, intelligent friend, has in fact threatened Israel’s existence, would wipe them into the sea, and declared the Holocast was a fabricated lie. Would you Ms. Patrick care to present these statements to the prime minister of Israel?

According to Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, “Jihad” means “a holy war, waged by Islam as a religious duty to crusade Islam’s belief.” This you call “quiet wisdom?” You are misinforming your readers that jihad is against jealousies, prejudices, judgments, unkindness etc. You mean like the Muslim who ran his own daughter down in his car and killed this beautiful young girl because in his opinion, she was too western? You mean that kind of “quiet wisdom?”

When it comes to “fairness doctrine,” why wouldn’t you mention who your dubious sources are? I would not hesitate for a moment to mention who we had to listen to for too many decades. In the name of good old fashioned fairness, we had to suffer through the evening news with dripping liberal opinions on every TV network. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN. Would you really call that the doctrine of fair? Ah yes, those were the days, all right. Thank God for Fox News!! I would suggest you examine carefully your last paragraph where you tell us, the public, to “think critically and verify our information,” before forming a conclusive opinion.

I find the word “jihad” alarming and offensive. If there is wisdom in destroying the Jewish nation or our culture, to promote their offensive beliefs, I fail to see any wisdom in such thinking, but to defend it is even more alarming. Have you ever seen the true story made into a movie, “Not Without My Daughter?” Sally Field had the lead role in that film, and there were death threats on her life for exposing truth. Misinformation is not only wrong, it is definitely alarming.
