Christian Youth Theater-North Idaho is producing its first summer musical with adults playing adults.

"Big, The Musical," will come to the stage in North Idaho in August.

The classic 1987 motion picture fantasy starring Tom Hanks burst onto the stage in the unforgettable theatrical experience, "Big, The Musical."

The story centers around Josh, a child who makes a wish to be grown, and upon fulfillment of that wish, discovers there's much more to being an adult than he's bargained for. This rare glimpse into adulthood through the eyes of a child reminds us that some of our child-like qualities are best ones to hold on to.

The CYT-North Idaho production will include upbeat musical numbers, a funny script and a large cast of actors, ages 8-88.

CYT-North Idaho is hoping "Big, The Musical" will bring in some much needed funds to sustain the children's program during the summer months.

All CYT shows are cast with children ages 8-18. "Big, The Musical" provides a perfect script with parts for young children, their parents and their grandparents.

"This is an opportunity for any adult who has seen a CYT-North Idaho show to actually join the fun on stage," according to a press release.

Auditions are 4 p.m. July 6 and 10 a.m. July 7, with callbacks at 2 p.m. July 7. Auditions will be held at Christ the King Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d'Alene. Performance dates are Aug. 9-19.
