Lums win, Prairie splits at tourneys

CALDWELL - Brett Robbins went 2 for 4 with four RBIs as the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen beat the Boise Senators 12-5 in the Nampa Buffalo Wild Wings Classic on Friday at Vallivue High.
Suraj Kedia struck out eight over five innings for Coeur d'Alene (11-1), which faces the Meridian Rangers today at 9 a.m. PDT at Vallivue.
"Suraj started out a little shaky, but got into the zone in the second inning," Coeur d'Alene coach Lloyd Duman said. "In the second through fifth, he was solid."
Joe Roletto went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and Chad Nyquist went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for Coeur d'Alene.
"We swung the bats really well," Duman said. "It seemed like they had a purpose in every at-bat today. It got a little shaky in the sixth when they came back, but we scored five in the bottom of the inning and got it back."

Prairie splits at Palouse tourney
PULLMAN - Tony Davidson had two triples and Eric Cooper drove in three runs as the Prairie Cardinals beat the Spokane Baseball Club 14-9 in the Palouse Summer Series on Friday at Washington State University.
Taylor Valente had three hits in the win for Prairie (6-5), which then lost Friday's late game to the Washington Warriors 4-1 to drop to 1-2 in the tournament after losing on Thursday night.
Prairie is scheduled to face the Pullman Patriots today at 10 a.m. at Lewis-Clark State and the Spokane Crew at 6 p.m. in Colfax.

SPOKANE - Colton Gray singled to score Jacob McKnight with two out in the seventh inning as the Coeur d'Alene Loggers rallied to beat Mead in the River City Shootout at West Valley High.
Derek Griffin singled and later scored the tying run on a passed ball in the seventh for Coeur d'Alene (4-2), which faces Moses Lake today at 3:30 p.m. and West Valley at 6.
J.J. Winger struck out six over five innings for Coeur d'Alene.
