Mission Valley in title game

DILLON — Mission Valley and Bitterroot will play for the championship today at 12:30 p.m. in the Maybelle Arthur Memorial American Legion baseball tournament.

The Mariners improved to 4-0 in tournament play on Saturday with a solid 12-3 triumph over Salmon, Idaho.

Mission Valley (22-2) opened with a six-run first inning, added three more in the second and one in the third.

The Mariners finished off their offensive fireworks with two runs in the seventh.

Robbie Gauthier led the Mariner hit parade, going 4-for-5.

Justin Evertz, Mike Bournstein and Dalton Molzhon had two hits each.

The Mariners had 12 for the game

Mission Valley pitchers Jack Humphreys and Chris Clary combined on a 2-hitter.

Bitterroot earned a split on Saturday, beating Missoula 9-2, but falling to Dillon by the same score.

Dillon and Missoula play for the consolation title today at 10 a.m.
