Ted Lunde “went to be with the Lord” on Oct. 29, 2011.

Born and baptized Theodore Bernt Lunde on June 1, 1929, to Adel and Inga Lunde in Rolette, N.D., Ted was raised on the family farm with his 10 siblings. He attended grade school in nearby Nansen, N.D.

He served in the Korean War as a truck driver and mechanic.

On July 10, 1954, he married June Ellen Britsch, who grew up on a neighboring farm. Shortly after they were married they moved to Libby, where Ted worked as a mechanic and service manager at the local Chevrolet garage, while June taught school. They moved to Kalispell in 1968 with their two children, Heather and Ted Lunde.

Ted worked as a mechanic for Plum Creek Timber Company in Columbia Falls, while June continued teaching. Ted retired from Plum Creek in 1994. Shortly after that they moved to Craig, Mont., where Ted enjoyed fishing and retirement and June taught school. After a few years there they moved back to Rugby, N.D., to spend some time near family and old friends. While there, June's health began to deteriorate.

In 2005, they moved back to Helena to be close to their daughter and family, until June passed away on June 4, 2005. Ted then moved back to Kalispell to be close to his son and family, as well as good friends. When his health began to deteriorate, in May of 2011, he moved back to Helena. He lived with his daughter and family until he passed away.

Ted enjoyed camping, huckleberry picking, hunting and fishing, including countless trips to Duck Lake in all kinds of weather to ice fish. He also enjoyed snowmobiling in his younger days and spending time with family and friends. Ted was a kindhearted, gentle, mild-mannered man. He was loved by all who knew him and will certainly be missed by all.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and John Monday, and two grandsons Logan and Dillon, of Helena; son, Ted, and daughter-in-law, JoAnn Lunde, and four granddaughters, Amanda, Ashley, Alison and Amy, of Kalispell; his sister, Gladys Moen, of Rugby; and brother, Jerome Lunde, of Hankinson, N.D.; as well as his extended family, Jody and Wendy Jeschke, and their children Hayden, Kendra, Preston and Emmet.

A celebration of Ted’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 23, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Kalispell. To offer a condolence or share a memory of Ted, please visit www.retzfuneralhome.com.
