KNIVES: Convention makes it 1,000+

The annual Washington state convention of the Disabled American Veterans was held in Yakima, Wash. June 5-9, 2012. DAV members from the following chapters attended:

DAV Chapter 1, Tacoma; DAV Chapter 2, Seattle; DAV Chapter 4, Vancouver, Wash.; DAV Chapter 6, Spokane; DAV Chapter 5 Bremerton; DAV Chapter 8, Yakima; DAV Chapter 9, Port Angeles; DAV Chapter 13, Seattle; DAV Chapter 18 Lakewood; DAV Chapter 19, Bellingham; DAV Chapter 22, Gorst; DAV Chapter 46 Kennewick; and DAV Chapter 9, Coeur d’Alene, and Chapter 13, Sandpoint, Ida. DAV members from Oregon attended the convention: DAV Chapter 29, Centralia; DAV Chapter 33, Kent; DAV Chapter 41, Olympia-Tumwater; DAV Chapter 43, Bellview; and DAV Chapter 47 Oak Harbor. DAV membership in Washington state is more than 23,000.

A special Buck commemorative knife, thank you card, and donor list were presented to 54 DAV members at the convention. U.S. Army, National Guard, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marines, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Air Force knives were presented.

With this presentation more than 1,000 Buck commemorative knives have been presented to active duty, reserve, and retired veterans in Washington state. Every cent donated to this program is used to pay for these knives for our veterans.
