Man down in road preferred it that way

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a report Sunday from a woman driver who said she encountered an intoxicated man lying down in the middle of Echo Lake Road near the Swan River School. He asked for a ride, and when she declined, he laid back down on the road. Not long after, a Swan River Road resident reported that an intoxicated man walked into her home and said he was looking for Nevada. He wandered away, back toward the Swan River School.
Multiple Lake County and Flathead County deputies responded to a report of shots fired in a mobile home off Montana 209. A perimeter was secured around the home and the suspect, who was considered suicidal, was eventually taken into custody.
A woman calling from an address of U.S. 93 west of Whitefish reported the theft of a pontoon boat, a snowmobile and trailers. She suspected a relative was responsible.
A person calling from a store on U.S. 2 in the Hungry Horse area reported that she had detained two minors she had caught stealing.
There was a criminal mischief report on Helena Flats Road involving a window being broken out of a vehicle.
There was a report of a severely leaning power pole off U.S. 2 west of Kalispell, and the only thing holding it up was a power line. Flathead Electric Cooperative responded.
A woman called from a Stonecrest Drive address to report that her mother had been shoved out of a vehicle by a man, causing a bleeding head injury. The victim could not be located initially, but she was eventually found at a South Kalispell convenience store. She was treated and taken to the Stonecrest Drive address.
Early Monday, at 4:40 a.m., two newspaper delivery people reported that they had been threatened and chased by a man with an ax in the Hungry Horse area as they attempted to deliver newspapers. Deputies made contact and found that the suspect and his neighbors had experienced thefts in the neighborhood and he thought the delivery people were suspicious.
A man called the Kalispell Police Department Monday afternoon to complain that a car he bought from a local dealer suffered a transmission failure while still on the lot. The dealer told the man he would have to pay one of their mechanics to fix the car, the man said.
Potted geraniums were stolen from a business on South Main Street.
Earlier on Monday, a First Avenue East resident reported a sign being blown down by wind onto his car.
A man who had walked out in front of a fire truck and blocked its passage on First Avenue East was counseled by police.
Someone reported a punctured tire on Third Avenue West.
Someone reportedly drove a car on a Rosewood Drive lawn and damaged it.
A woman on 10th Avenue West told police her son stole her ATM card and took money out of her account.
Someone dumped oil and gasoline in a bay at a car wash on West Idaho Street.
Two porch chairs reported missing on Second Avenue East were recovered from a neighbor’s yard.
A drunk and disorderly man knocking on doors at a hotel on East Idaho Street was put back in his room and advised to stay there.
Police responded to a report of a “really drunk man” yelling at his girlfriend and trying to kick open a door at a home on Seventh Avenue West and released the man to his mom.
Sunday evening, a Second Street East resident told police that someone siphoned gasoline from his four-wheeler.
Street crews were called out to remove a fallen tree blocking Fourth Street East.
