Actors needed

Independent filmmaker Britni West, a 2005 Flathead High School graduate, is looking for men, women and children to act in her film “Tired Moonlight." West says she wants to tap into local talent in the North Valley because that’s where she’ll be shooting much of the movie. Timebank

An informational meeting by the local Timebank group will take place at the United Methodist Church, 117 Second Street West, in Columbia Falls, on Tuesday, June 26, at 7 p.m. New members will be signed up, the value of Timebank will be explained, technical help will be offered about the Timebank Web site, and policy issues will be discussed. Fundraiser

First Best Place will host a dinner event at Glacier Discovery Square on Saturday, June 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. to support the Columbia Falls Community Garden at River’s Edge Park, now in its second growing season. Every dollar raised will be doubled. Catered by Cimarron Café, the event will feature live music by Andre Floyd and a no-host bar and art auction. Patriot camp

Registration has started for a Kid’s Patriot Camp to be held at Glacier Discovery Square on June 25-29 from 9 a.m. to noon. Using curriculum from the organization Constitutional Champions, the camps will teach kids about flag etiquette, the meanings of the Pledge of Allegiance, the Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, and about early U.S. leaders. Volunteers are needed. Pre-registration is required by using forms at the Columbia Falls library or by calling 892-1363 or 249-4575.

Bible school

A vacation Bible school for the community will be offered June 25-29 by the Columbia Falls United Methodist Church, St. Richard’s Catholic Church and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Counselors from Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp will lead the program for children entering grades 1-6 at the Methodist Church, 117 Second Street West, in Columbia Falls, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The program for children age 4 and in kindergarten will be on June 25-28 from 9 to 11 a.m. Children will need a sack lunch. Ham radios

The Flathead Valley Amateur Radio Club and Amateur Radio Relay League will host the 78th annual Amateur Radio Field Day in the Glacier High School parking lot over a 24 hour period starting Saturday, June 23, at noon. The general public and community leaders are invited to drop by and experience the fun and utility of amateur radio.

Book signing

Award-winning West Glacier author Beth Hodder will autograph her books, “The Ghost of Schafer Meadows” and “Stealing the Wild” at the Costco store in Kalispell on Saturday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. “The Ghost of Schafer Meadows” won a 2008 Independent Publisher Silver Medal book award and was read in its entirety on Montana Public Radio’s “Pea Green Boat” program in August 2011.

Dog race

Flathead Spay & Neuter will hold its first annual Doggie Dash race at the Hugh Rogers WAG Dog Park, in Whitefish, on Saturday, June 23, with sign-in from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and racing beginning at noon. Entrance fee is $5 per dog. There will be contests for Best Dressed Dogs and Owner/Dog Look-A-Like at $1 per dog. All proceeds will benefit the Task Force.
