B-ball camp

A basketball camp for both boys and girls entering grades 3-5 will take place at the Columbia Falls Junior High School on June 25-28 from 3 to 5 p.m. A camp for grades 6-8 will be at the same location from 6 to 9 p.m. A basketball camp for grades 9-12 will take place at the high school on July 9-12 from 6 to 9 p.m. Cost is $40 with a T-shirt included. Sign-ups at the door are welcome for both camps. For more information, call coach Cary Finberg at 892-7731.

Golf team

The Columbia Falls High School golf teams will have their first meet on Aug. 9 this year. Players who want more information about golf camps and clinics, contact coach Gene Marcille at 249-3693.

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
