PHOENIX - Both Coeur d'Alene Sting girls teams came up short on the second day at the US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships on Tuesday.
The Sting under-15 girls gold lost 3-0 to Legends FC of Southern California. They will conclude pool play today against Eastside FC of Washington at 9 a.m.
"We played pretty tight with them," Sting coach Dan Hogan said. "They were definitely a good team and were better than us today. We stuck with them, but we started getting tired midway through the second half and gave up some goals. We had some chances, but nothing really good and we ended up spending a lot of time playing defense."
The Sting U14 girls fell 1-0 to the Orchard Valley Heat of California and will conclude pool play today against Legends FC of Southern California today at 7 a.m.
Both Sting teams are 0-2 in pool play, and are mathematically eliminated from advancing out of pool play.
"We knew it was going to be tough, but we tried to manage the best we could," Hogan said. "With Nevada tying earlier in the day, it didn't matter anyway."
The Idaho Thunder U18 boys, which lost its tournament opener on Monday, took on the WPFC 93 Black of Washington late Tuesday, and conclude pool play today vs. HSC Bulls 94 of Ka'ula, Hawaii, at 7 p.m.
