ROYAL CITY - It would be hard to beat the deal that is a ticket to this year's Royal City SummerFest barbecue on Friday, July 13.
For only $3.50 ($2.50 for hot dog plate) you'll get a fine meal, prepared by Royal City's best barbecuists, a piece of special cake and the chance to win one of numerous door prizes. Tickets are available at Royal City Harvest Foods.
"Take the family to dinner or your company," SummerFest Chairperson Cara Hoyt suggests.
There will be multiple door prizes for the purchasers of presale tickets before July 11. The top door prize will be a motel stay at Mardon Resort for one or two nights, depending on the season.
There will be pies from Ronna's pies, frappes from Mack's Mocha, a Courtney Anderson Hair Cut, Shampoo & Blow Dry, 10 gift certificates from Karen's Nails, including men and women's haircuts, pedicures, & acrylic nails, and more.
The meal itself is more than worth the price of the ticket. It will include a giant 50th birthday cake for Royal City's golden anniversary.
Washington Fruit is paying the cost of the cake. Cynthia Cera, who has lived here nearly all of her life, will make the cake.
A cake cutting ceremony will feature Mayor & Mrs. Michael Stark and Grand Marshals Chris and Frank Mianecki.
The BBQ is being prepared and served by the Saddle Mountain Supply family. It has done so for several years.
This year Saddle Mountain is even paying for the meal. As usual, company CEO Michael Christensen will be the head chef.
"His whole family is involved, from grandfathers to fathers to grandchildren. There will be about 25 in there cooking and serving," SummerFest spokeswoman Leslie Fanning said.
Something 'Bout Harmony, a barbershop quartet-like group, will perform near the beginning of the festivities. It will be followed by Royal's Got Talent, and Los Canarios band, and a spectacular fireworks display.
If you have a suggestion for Royal's Got Talent, please convey that to talent scout, Mario Godoy, either on Facebook or email: magodgon@gmail.com or 509346-1121. More information regarding Summerfest is found at the website: www.rcsummerfest.org
