Twins fall to Mavs in AA; Rangers gain split

MISSOULA — Missoula used a six-run seventh inning to pull away from the Glacier Twins for a 12-6 Western AA American Legion baseball victory Saturday.
Jeremy Nielsen, 2-for-4, homered and drove in two runs for the Twins. Garrett Houston also had two hits for the Twins.
Glacier (6-22 overall, 0-6 league) hosts Missoula on Monday for a single game beginning at 3 p.m.
The Twins follow with another single home game with the Kalispell Lakers on Wednesday. That contest starts at 8 p.m.

LIBBY — Kootenai Valley settled for a split at the Big Bucks Tournament.
After losing to the Calgary Redbirds, the Rangers rebounded with an impressive victory over the Lewis and Clark Cubs from Lewiston, Idaho.
Bryton Guckenberg and Ryan Holder both doubled and tripled in the loss. Holder had three RBIs in that outing.
Guckenberg had two doubles in the victory while Kade Davis led with four RBIs.
Guckenberg, Davis, Holder and Gallen Sullivan all had two hits in that contest.
“Guckenberg, Ryan (Holder) and Davis hit the ball well all day,” Kootenai Valley coach Brent Holder said.
“All the pitchers did well.”
Kootenai Valley is 2-1 in tournament play and 19-12 overall.
“This is some of the best baseball we played all year,” Holder said.
“Even in the loss. The kids are playing well.”
The Rangers wrap up tournament play at 11:30 a.m. today.
