Cincinnati's Arroyo flirts with no-hitter

Bronson Arroyo took a no-hitter into the eighth inning on Tuesday night before giving up a three-run lead, but Drew Stubbs led off the bottom half with a homer, sending the Cincinnati Reds to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Milwaukee Brewers.

Arroyo allowed only one runner through the first seven innings, hitting Ryan Braun in the first. The slumping Brewers hit only four balls out of the infield during that stretch.

Cardinals 5, Marlins 2: Yadier Molina hit a three-run homer and St. Louis won at Miami for its fifth straight victory.

Braves 8, Diamondbacks 1: Tim Hudson pitched eight strong innings and Atlanta beat visiting Arizona.

Phillies 5, Pirates 4: Ty Wigginton and Carlos Ruiz homered to lift Philadelphia past visiting Pittsburgh.

Astros 5, Padres 3: J.D. Martinez hit a two-run homer, Jed Lowrie added a solo shot and Houston beat visiting San Diego.

Nationals 12, Rockies 5: At Denver, Adam LaRoche homered twice, Ryan Zimmerman collected his 1,000th career hit and also homered, and Washington routed Colorado.

Cubs 5, Mets 3: Anthony Rizzo had two hits and drove in the go-ahead run in his first game with Chicago, which rallied past visiting New York.

Rizzo was called up earlier in the day for his highly anticipated Cubs debut after posting big numbers for Triple-A Iowa.

Giants 2, Dodgers 0: Melky Cabrera homered and host San Francisco beat Los Angeles.

* AMERICAN LEAGUE

White Sox 3, Twins 2: At Minneapolis, Gavin Floyd fired nine strikeouts in seven shutout innings and Alex Rios homered to help Chicago beat Minnesota.

Royals 8, Rays 2: Bruce Chen tossed seven solid innings, Jeff Francoeur and Yuniesky Betancourt both went deep and host Kansas City routed Tampa Bay.

Red Sox 5, Blue Jays 1: Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a tying solo homer with two out in the seventh inning and Boston rallied past visiting Toronto.

Angels 7, Orioles 3: Albert Pujols doubled and homered, C.J. Wilson allowed one run in seven innings, and Los Angeles had a season-high 17 hits in a win at Baltimore.

Yankees 6, Orioles 4: Phil Hughes bounced back from a rough outing to pitch eight scoreless innings and Alex Rodriguez hit a long home run to lead New York past visiting Baltimore.

Rangers 7, Tigers 5: At Arlington, Texas, Yu Darvish struck out 10 in seven innings to lead Texas past Detroit.
