Cory Davis had a big day at the plate June 23 with three hits and three runs scored, but it wasn’t enough to get the sliding Glacier Twins AA past the Missoula Mavericks in an important Legion baseball conference game in Missoula.

The Mavs never trailed en route to earning the 12-6 victory, sending the Twins to their sixth consecutive loss. The Mavs also knocked off the Twins, 2-8, on Friday.

In Saturday’s game, the Twins tied the score at 5-5 in the sixth following a three-run inning, but Missoula countered with six runs in the seventh frame to put the game away.

Davis got on base four times for the Twins. He singled in the second and sixth innings and doubled in the seventh inning.

Jeremy Nielsen finished with two hits and two RBIs, including a home run. Starting pitcher Connor Donahue allowed four earned runs on four hits.

The Twins lost at Kalispell 16-1 on June 20. Lakers pitcher Hank McCleod threw five innings of shutout ball and struck out four.

The Twins scored their only run of the game on a passed ball in the seventh inning.

The Twins’ last win came May 28 against Missoula. The Twins (6-22-1) look to get back on track when they host Kalispell in a conference showdown June 27 at 8 p.m. at Memorial Park.
