Rammell challenges Silver Valley legislator

Rex Rammell has filed to run against Shannon McMillan, R-Silverton, for Legislative District 7 State Representative, Position A.
“I don't like the way things are going in Idaho and I don't like the way things are going on the federal level either,” he said during a phone interview Wednesday while at home in Kooskia.
Rammell ran for the Idaho House in 2002, took on Jim Risch for U.S. Senate in 2008 and ran for governor against Butch Otter in 2010.
“I've picked some pretty tough race ... Through the process, I've learned what it would take to be a very good state representative, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity," he said.
Due to recent redistricting, an area of more than 13,500 square miles from Sandpoint to Riggins is now considered District 7.
When asked if he finds that to be a challenge, Rammell said, “That doesn't bother me all that much because the issues within the district I feel are right up my alley.”
Those include public land issues, Fish and Game, logging and mining.
“That's who I am,” he said, “and I think I can be a good representative for this district.”
Rammell said one of the first bills he’d sponsor would be to force Fish and Game to put a bounty on wolves to show they’re more serious about lowering the population.
“I think it could be done,” he said.
The wolf hunters who are successful should turn in their kills to Fish and Game for a monetary bounty, which will help them keep track of numbers effectively. Then, they should be given another tag.
