Edward (ED) Michael Juchmes, 65, of Moses Lake went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2012 after a courageous three year battle with cancer.

Ed was born in Wenatchee on September 20, 1946 to Lawrence and Eva (Middleton) Juchmes. He was raised in Farmer, Washington and attended Shiloh Grade School. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1964. He then moved to North Bend. Ed worked for Weyerhauser from 1971 to 1993 as a truck mechanic.

Ed married Mary Whelan in 1972 and they shared 39 wonderful years. They lived for 21 years in North Bend where they shared a love for horses. During this time they raised paint show horses.

Ed loved to elk hunt, and he bagged two 6 point trophies. He was very proud of his racks and loved to show them off.

In 1993, they fulfilled Ed's lifelong dream of owning his own farm. They bought a 150 acre farm in the Block 40 area of Moses Lake where he raised alfalfa. Ed was very involved in the farming community. He was president of the Block 40 Community Club for 2 years. He also loved working at Grant County Fair in the club's ice cream booth. If any of his neighbors needed help, he was always the first to volunteer.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Mary and his Mother, Eva. He is also survived by his sisters Marie (John) Cadigan of Cashmere, Fran (Jim) Rayburn of East Wenatchee, and Cathy Juchmes of East Wenatchee; and his brothers Dave of North Bend, Jim (Marcia) of Federal Way, Jerry (Lynn) of East Wenatchee and Paul (Julia) of Rock Island. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, 1 sister and 2 brothers.

Mary and Ed were very thankful for all the kindness and help received from their many friends and family during his extended illness.
