Warriors fall to Panthers in opener

CALDWELL - Chance Chavez scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Carey Panthers past the Kootenai Warriors 58-38 on Thursday in the opening round of the state 1A Division II tournament at Caldwell High.

Kootenai (7-13) will face Sho-Ban (18-4) tonight at 7 p.m. (PST) in a loser-out game. Sho-Ban lost to Dietrich 58-55 earlier Thursday.

Marshall Willms scored 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting for Kootenai, which turned the ball over 21 times, compared to 14 for Carey.
