DENVER - The Western Athletic Conference announced its individual men's basketball postseason awards on Sunday and honored four Idaho players.
In a vote of the league's coaches, junior center Kyle Barone was selected to the All-WAC second team, and senior guard Deremy Geiger was an honorable mention pick.
Senior guard Landon Tatum was a WAC all-defensive team selection, and senior forward Djim Bandoumel was named to the WAC all-newcomer team.
Barone is averaging 12.6 points and a team-leading 8.2 rebounds per game. He's added 46 assists, 17 steals and a team-best 47 blocked shots - already the fifth-most in Idaho single-season history. He's shooting 54.2 percent from the floor and leads Idaho with 97 made free throws this year.
Geiger leads the team with 13.0 points per game and 25 steals. He's second on the team with 72 assists and also has 71 rebounds. Geiger is shooting 43.2 percent from 3-point range to rank 13th in the NCAA. His 80 makes on 3-pointers this year are tied for third in Idaho single-season history.
Tatum leads Idaho this season with eight drawn charges - his most notable in the closing seconds to clinch Idaho's 57-54 win over Utah State on Jan. 21 - and is second on the team with 24 steals this year. After only playing in eight games early last season, Bandoumel has emerged as a regular in the Vandal lineup. He's averaging 8.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.1 assists per game on team-best 55.2 percent shooting.
