Charles Calobeer, one of three youths charged for an incident on a Glacier High School freshman football bus last fall, has agreed to six months’ probation for misdemeanor assault.

On Friday, Flathead District Judge Stewart Stadler signed the consent order, a document that outlines the terms and conditions of the probation.

Those terms include a requirement that Calobeer take part in a victim-offender counseling program with any of the victims who want to participate, or writing letters of accountability to all four victims.

He was ordered to read “Bullying In Schools: An Overview,” a publication prepared by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention of the U.S. Justice Department.

Calobeer also must comply with curfews and avoid drugs, alcohol and firearms. Failure to comply with terms of the probation could put Calobeer in detention for up to 10 days.

Calobeer was one of several players who pulled teammates to the back of the bus on Sept. 12, holding them down and assaulting them on a return trip from a game in Missoula.

Calobeer’s sentence is similar to the sentence handed down to fellow player Logan Jones. Jones, Calobeer, and four other players were kicked off the team following the incident and suspended from school.

A third freshman involved in the assault, Truman Pisk, admitted guilt on Feb. 23 to a reduced charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
