Update: The first round of caucus voting in Kootenai County went to Rick Santorum. There were 3,775 votes cast countywide, with Santorum getting 35.15 percent with 1,327 votes.

Ron Paul came in second with 989 votes, representing 26.2 percent.

Romney won 23.3 percent with 881 votes.

Gingrich's 570 votes represented 15.1 percent, and Buddy Roemer got 8 votes countywide.

With .2 percent of the votes, Roemer was eliminated.

Although the AP and other national news media have already called Romney the winner of Idaho's caucus, Kootenai County Republicans are continuing with the next rounds of voting.

7:50 p.m.

Voters have been behind closed doors at Kootenai County caucus locations for nearly an hour now.

The gym at Lakeland High School is packed, and things appear to be behind schedule.

Voting was slated to begin at 7 p.m., but as of 7:45, it had not yet begun. Organizers just completed checking people in, verifying that all voters are affiliated Republicans and making sure each has a wristband.

Next, representatives from the campaigns of each of the GOP presidential hopefuls are scheduled to speak to the crowd.
