Bonners Ferry has re-posted the chief of police position. It will remain open until Friday, March 9.
All applicants who previously applied will need to reapply if they are still interested in the chief of police position.
City Manager Stephen Boorman said this decision was done on advice of the city attorney. The previous process of appointing a new chief has been canceled.
The current job listing is written different from both the first post and the extended modified post.
The city has listed more specifically the required qualifications, desirable background, duties and desired personal characteristics. The listing also states EEO and Veterans preference.
“The process takes time, and won’t be instantaneous,” said Boorman.
The process will take some time. A new interview committee will be formed for the interview process, said councilman Mike Klaus.
The new listing now requires three years minimum in supervisory experience in sworn law enforcement instead of three years as a lieutenant.
The city is also looking for another police officer to fill a full time position. This job listing also closes on March 9.
