The race for the District 3 seat on the Kootenai County Board of Commissioners is now a three-way race.
Larry Spencer filed his paperwork with the clerk's office today to be on the primary ballot in May. He is challenging incumbent Dan Green. Vic Holmes declared his candidacy earlier this week.
The race for the District 1 commissioner's seat now held by Todd Tondee remains a five-way race. Tondee is being challenged by Gerald Arno, Marc Eberlein, Bruce Noble and Tim Herzog.
A second independent candidate, Tom Dickson, has declared his candidacy in the sheriff's election. Joe Bodman, also an independent, previously filed his declaration paperwork. The independent candidates will appear on the November ballot only.
Three Republican candidates previously filed for the sheriff's election. Ben Wolfinger, Keith Hutcheson and John Green will all be on the May 15 primary election ballot.
The filing deadline for candidates is 5 p.m. Friday.
