Tubbs Hill manhunt ends, fugitive captured

<p>Law enforcement agencies are encouraging people to stay away from Tubbs Hill and McEuen Park as they search for a fugitive on the hill.</p>

The downtown hiking area and McEuen Park were closed this morning as police searched for a suspect wanted on a U.S. Marshal's warrant.

He was captured without incident.

Tubbs Hill and McEuen Park in downtown Coeur d'Alene have been closed as law enforcement agencies search for a suspect on the hill.

Multiple agencies are assisting in the pursuit, including the FBI, U.S. Marshals, the sheriff's office and K9 units.

The fugitive is described as bald, bearded, wearing a white tank top and a tan jacket.

Officers on the scene report the suspect is wanted on a federal probation violation and had been living in a half-way house.

It is unknown if any hikers were on the hill at the time the chase began. The suspect entered Tubbs Hill near Young Ave. and Eighth St.

The suspect is wanted on a Marshals' arrest warrant that was to be served in Coeur d'Alene. A helicopter is being called in to assist in the search.

Update: Officers have received a call from a resident living near Tubbs Hill who says she believes someone is hiding beneath a boat on her property.

Update: The suspect has been captured without incident.
