No. 11 seed WSU on to semis after upsetting No. 3 USC

April Cook scored 15 points off the bench, Jazmine Perkins added 12 and Washington State rode its long-range shooting to a 69-55 upset of third-seeded Southern Cal on Thursday in the Pac-12 tournament quarterfinals at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.

Rosie Tarnowski chipped in 11 points, including a team-high three 3-pointers, for the 11th-seeded Cougars (13-19), who were 10 of 20 from beyond the arc. Perkins also had seven rebounds and three steals.

Washington State will play No. 2 seed California in the semifinals today.

Briana Gilbreath had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Trojans (18-12), who looked to have some momentum after ending the regular season on a six-game winning streak. But Washington State kept pace before taking the lead for good on a Perkins 3-pointer 6:15 before halftime.

Sacramento State 71, Eastern Washington 61: The third-seeded Eagles committed 27 turnovers in the loss to the No. 6 seed Hornets in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky tournament at Reed Gym in Pocatello.

Brianne Ryan scored 19 points for Eastern (16-14), which outrebounded Sacramento State 50-37, but shot just 32.5 percent from the field, including 3 of 16 from 3-point range.

Fantasia Hilliard and Alle Moreno each scored 17 points for the Hornets (13-17), who play Idaho State in the semifinals today.

Montana State 68, Montana 59: Former Lake City High standout Katie Baker scored a game-high 19 points, but the Grizzlies fell to the Bobcats in a quarterfinal game in Pocatello.

Montana (16-14) shot 19 of 63 from the floor. Katie Bussey scored 18 points for Montana State (19-10), which plays Northern Colorado in the semifinals today.
