ROYAL CITY - Royal High School has been recognized with the public school accountability index rating of "exemplary".

The public school accountability index is the state board of education's rating system for Washington schools. It is based on high school proficiency exams in reading, writing and science and end of course math exams and graduation rates.

"They look at achievement by non-low-income students, achievement by low-income students, achievement compared to other schools with similar demographics and improvement in student achievement." Royal Principal Jack Hill said.

The ratings are struggling, fair, good, very good and exemplary.
