Primary ballot plump with GOP candidates

Republican voters will have plenty of choices in the May 15 primary, and many GOP primary winners, especially in the legislative races, will face a challenger or two in November.
When the filing period closed at 5 p.m. Friday, no candidates had filed as Democrats for Kootenai County positions up for election.
Three independent candidates filed in the county, but their names will not appear on the primary ballot. They will be on the ballot in November.
The county candidates include:
District 1 commissioner - Incumbent Todd Tondee, Steven Peter Benner, Gerald Arno, Marc Eberlein, Bruce Noble, Greg Wells, and Tim Herzog.
District 3 commissioner - Incumbent Dan Green, Vic Holmes and Larry Spencer.
County sheriff - Ben Wolfinger, Keith Hutcheson and John Green. Independents Joe Bodman, Tom Dickson and Bob Foster will be on the November ballot
County prosecuting attorney - Incumbent Barry McHugh is running against Donald Gary.
The state legislative candidates include:
Legislative District 2 State Senate - Shirley McFaddan, a Democrat from Athol; Incumbent Steve Vick, R-Dalton Gardens; and Mike Jorgenson, a Republican from Hayden Lake.
State House, Seat A - Cheryl Stransky, a Democrat from Dalton Gardens; Incumbent Vito Barbieri, R-Dalton Gardens; and Mark D. Fisher, a Hayden Republican.
State House, Seat B - Dan English, Democrat, Rathdrum; Jeri DeLange, Republican, Hayden; Incumbent Phil Hart, R-Athol; Ed Morse, Republican, Hayden; Ronald Vieselmeyer, Republican, Coeur d'Alene; and Fritz Wiedenhoff, Republican Rathdrum.
Legislative District 3 State Senate - Kristy Reed Johnson, Democrat, Post Falls; and Bob Nonini, Republican, Coeur d'Alene.
State House, Seat A - Dave Larsen, Democrat, Coeur d'Alene; Fred Meckel, Republican, Rathdrum; Ron Mendive, Republican, Coeur d'Alene; and Jeff Tyler, Republican, Coeur d'Alene.
State House Seat B - Ronald Johnson, Democrat, Post Falls; Incumbent Frank Henderson, R-Post Falls, and Jack Schroeder, a Republican from Post Falls.
Legislative District 4 State Senate - Warren Ducote, Democrat; Jeremy Boggess, independent; and Incumbent Sen. John Goedde, a Republican. All three candidates are from Coeur d'Alene. The independent candidate will appear on the November ballot only.
State House, Seat A - Ray Writz, Constitution; Janet Callen, Democrat; Jeff Ames, Republican; Luke Malek, Republican. All four candidates live in Coeur d'Alene. The Constitution Party candidate will appear on the November ballot only.
State House, Seat B - Anne Nesse, Democrat, Coeur d'Alene; and Incumbent Kathy Sims, R-Coeur d'Alene.
U.S. House of Representatives , District 1 - Cynthia Clinkingbeard, Democrat, Boise; Jimmy Farris, Democrat, Meridian; Reed McCandless, Republican, Moscow; Incumbent Raul Labrador, R-Eagle; Rob Oates, Libertarian, Caldwell.
