MOSES LAKE – Search teams returned to the Potholes Reservoir on Mar. 1 with a remote-controlled robot to look for missing Moses Lake man Dan Toya and still have not found him.

Toya, 64, went missing Dec. 23. His locked and undisturbed pickup truck was found that evening near Samson’s Beach south of Moses Lake.

Toya’s Golden Labrador dog is missing as well. It is suspected Toya took his dog for a walk at Samson’s Beach after taking the dog to the veterinarian.

There is no sign of foul play, but detectives have not ruled out any reason for Toya’s disappearance. Search parties on the ground, air and water have found few clues.

On Thursday the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office brought its SARBOT to search under the surface of the Potholes Reservoir. It worked well but, unfortunately, Toya was not found. Deputies plan to use the SARBOT again at a future time.

“We continue to hope to find Dan and I continue to pray for Dan’s family and friends,” said Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones.
