Post bail, pay court fines online
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 14 years, 1 month AGO
Kootenai County Clerk Cliff Hayes announced today that the First District Court is now accepting credit or debit cards for payment of criminal fines, court costs, penalties, restitution and cash bail via the Internet.
“This is primarily a convenience for the public," Hayes said, in a statement released by his office. “It’s a partnership with the Idaho Supreme Court in a statewide resolution for online payments.”
A convenience fee of 5 percent of the total debt owed to the court will be added to the credit or debit card amount.
Payers will need to know the defendant’s name plus:
• case number and date of birth
• citation number and date of birth
• or if posting bail, with what the defendant has been charged
At the completion of the transaction, the court computer will automatically reflect the payment as having been made, and the payer can print a confirmation.
