After nearly six months recuperating from surgery, Tina-Marie Schultz has reopened Rosa's Italian Market & Deli at 120 E. Fourth Ave., Post Falls. And she's done it just in time for her traditional St. Joseph's Feast Day tomorrow (Monday), when she offers "a free meal to the poor."

The menu includes appetizers, meat, seafood and pasta dinners as well as home-prepared meals and cooking classes. Wine and beer may be purchased with Chianti Club members having autographed bottles hanging from the ceiling.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Check www.rosasmarket.com. Phone 777-7400.

The Gym opens at Fourth, Spruce

Personal training, nutrition counseling and sports specific training for all ages is available at The Gym at 1701 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene. (Long-time residents would remember the building as Beaudry Motors).

All four trainers previously were trainers with other facilities. Owners are Josh and Valerie Queen, long-time resident and native of North Idaho respectively, and both experienced trainers. They're joined by Kirk Brown and David Sheppard, also with strong North Idaho and trainer histories. They have a combined client base of 125 people.

Hours are 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays except Wednesdays by appointment. Phone 755-2876.

The Hair Zoo moves a block

Specializing as a children's salon but offering cuts and styles to anyone, The Hair Zoo has moved to Whistle Stop Plaza at 2700 E. Seltice Way (from 2600 E. Seltice), Post Falls.

With toys and animals to ride, the shop has been in business eight years. Owner Jena Burrow is helped by Stephenie Lewis. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and 10 to 5 Saturdays. Phone 777-2456.

Sweetwater Bakery goes wholesale

With its wholesale business dominating its sales and employees' work, Sweetwater Bakery at 119 E. Third Ave., Post Falls, has closed its front retail shop. The bakery sells to hospitals, colleges, restaurants, coffee stands, convenience stores and distributors (even to Yellowstone Park).

Tom and Sandy Van Dias purchased the business in 2004 and found it grow from six employees and 2,500 square feet in Spokane to 6,000 square feet and 25 employees in Post Falls. The huge variety of options includes breakfast and gluten-free items. Seasonal items and themed cupcakes are the specialties.

Phone 509 326-0806. Check www.sweetwaterbakery.com.

Hang on for these tidbits:

• With details here before they open, coming to town this spring are Tricksters Brewery, Roger's Burgers, Cafe Rio, Meltz Extreme Grilled Cheese, New York Bagels, Alterations Express, Fu-Ki Japanese Steak House and Lil Polpetta Italian Deli. Whew!

• And watch for details of the moves of Figpickels and Daisy J's.

• While remodeling a wall in his house, Kroc Center trainer Tim found a 100-year-old Coeur d'Alene Evening Press. It included political ads for President Taft and women's suits for $16.50 at Knutesen Women's Wear (now Sandra K's) at 308 Sherman Ave. and a wood range at Kootenai Hardware at 306 Sherman (now U.S. Bank). A major feature was the history of the Mullan Road, the Lookout and Fourth of July Pass route (now Interstate 90) primarily chosen for less miles and beside the Cataldo Mission to connect the navigational headwaters of the Missouri River at Fort Peck, Mont., and the Columbia River at Walla Walla. Thanks, Tim.
