RICHLAND - The Chiefs boys golf team had a good outing at Horn Rapids Monday, finishing just 28 strokes behind Richland in the first league POD Match. The Bombers turned in a team score of 309 to lead the field of nine. Moses Lake tallied 338.

"I was very pleased finishing in second place as a team," coach JR Cox said. "The day was windy and being able to beat five of the six schools on such a challenging course was fantastic."

Brendon Cox shot the low round of the day for the Chiefs, carding a 76 on the par 72 course, which was good enough to place him third out of 40 individual golfers. Brody Milbrandt turned in an 84, Kellan Roellich shot 88, Tanner Montgomery, 90, Austin Rogers, 91 and Nick Sutherland finished with a 94.

"Brenden's 76 was his best varsity score to date. He works hard and it's good to see him getting such positive results," Cox said. "Brody (freshman)was a bit nervous at the beginning in his first varsity match, but I think he now sees he can compete with anyone. Kellan was steady with an 88 and Tanner's 90 gave us our team score of 338."

The low round medalists for the match was Richland's Hunter Thompson who carded a one under par 71.

Moses Lake is back on the links March 28 for the Southridge Invite at Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewic.
