The 12th Annual Artist Showcase presented by the Coeur d'Alene Art Association is a Featured Exhibit in the April ArtWalk, sponsored by the Arts Alliance.
The Showcase opens on Friday, April 13 and will continue through Sunday in The Resort Plaza Shops. The exhibit opens all three days at 10 a.m., closes with ArtWalk on Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m.
There will be a raffle, musical entertainment and special guest artists painting during the Friday evening ArtWalk. Throughout the weekend the exhibit will showcase the artwork of members of CAA, including the winners of their recent juried competition. Visitors will have the opportunity to win an original painting donated by association member Mary Kopf and a $200 gift certificate to purchase art from the showcase.
Artist Showcase promises a visual feast of color and texture in art that covers a wide range in terms of medium, subject matter and style. These friendly, local artists welcome folks to stop and visit with them and watch them demonstrate their work.
The Coeur d'Alene Art Association is open to artists of all levels, amateur to professional.
The CAA juried competition was held in February juried by Kyle Paliotto, local painter whose work can be seen at Art Spirit Gallery. He awarded Best of Show to Marlee Phillips, first place to Chelsea Cordova, second to Joanne Reeds, Third to Ann Michel and honorable mentions to Karen Pfeiffer and Mary Alward.
"My expectation is that we put forth our most 'professional' face, yet continue to showcase that we are an inclusive (which is why we are unique) community organization by engaging with the public, not just for sales and our own contacts, but as hosts," Cordova said. "We should make it fun and inviting as a sharing group of artists."
