Lois Rae Baxter passed away March 20, 2012, with her loving family by her side at Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, after a courageous battle with ALS.

Lois was born on March 11, 1933, in Compton, Calif. At the age of 12, she and her sister Kathleen moved to Coeur d’Alene, where she attended school and later met the love of her life, Wayne Baxter. They were married on March 21, 1953, and together raised five children. Lois also worked at the Coeur d’Alene Convention Center for a number of years, and her greatest joys in life were her family, her flowers, and her hummingbirds. Fittingly, Hospice House is located in Hummingbird Fields, where Lois passed.

Lois is survived by her husband of 59 years, Wayne; sons David Baxter, Coeur d’Alene, Mark Baxter (Patty Humpherys), Coeur d’Alene; and daughters Pam Tippets (Reid Tippets), Juneau, Alaska; Connie Arney, Seattle; and Judy Baxter, Seattle; nine grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Donez and James Sutton and sister Kathleen Young.

At Lois’ request, there will be no service at this time, but a celebration of her life will be held later this spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Lois’ name to the ALS Association at www.alsa-ec.org or to Hospice House of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID, 83835.

The family would also like to thank the warm staff at Hospice House for the loving care they provided Lois and the entire family during her final days.

Please sign Lois’ online guestbook at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
