Dec. 24, 1926 — March 21, 2012.

Marva Martin, “Kim” to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2012, at Living Springs Assisted Living, in Post Falls.

Born to JBT and Gladys Martin in Spokane, Kim attended West Valley High and Holy Names Academy studying music in hopes of becoming a concert pianist.

Kim and family moved to California in the early 1960s, but returned to Spokane in the mid 1980s, then later to Post Falls.

She held a variety of jobs including telephone operator, secretarial positions, nursing assistant and an undercover decoy for the police department in Fresno, Calif.

She enjoyed sewing, was an excellent seamstress, needlepoint, gardening, and classical music.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dorothy Martin.

Survivors include her five children: Claudia (Ernie) Hagen, Modesto, Calif., Julie (Ned) Cline, Beaumont, Calif., Barry (Marti) Martin, San Diego, Randy (Mary) Martin, Spokane, Tracy (Sue) Martin, Coeur d’Alene; six grandchildren: Dennis, Brian, Marty Bicek, Ken McCormick, Kate and Gabe Martin; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family is truly grateful to Kim’s loving caregivers at Living Springs, in Post Falls.

Arrangements have been entrusted to English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls with interment at Fairmont Memorial Park in Spokane. No formal services are planned at this time, however a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kim’s name to your favorite charity, the SPCA, the Alzheimer’s Association, or your community Hospice.
