Cardinals drop two at Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY - Amber Meyers had four hits and three RBIs for the North Idaho College Cardinals on Friday, but it was not enough as the fourth-ranked Salt Lake Bruins won 4-3 and 7-5 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader on at Bruin Field.
Salt Lake (31-6, 22-4 SWAC) scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth in the first game, but the Cardinals rallied with a three-run sixth inning, keyed by RBI singles by Shelby Carter and Meyers. Ashley Moon reached on an error to score Carter with two out in the sixth to pull NIC within a run.
Meyers and Jessica Lupinacci had RBI singles in a four-run fourth inning for NIC (14-23, 11-15) in the second game. Salt Lake took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth with a five-run inning - highlighted by a pinch-hit, two-run single by Meagan Nielson.
The teams conclude their series with a doubleheader today.
