Cardinals held to five hits as No. 4 Salt Lake sweeps

SALT LAKE CITY - Amber Meyers singled and scored in the first game and had a solo home run in the second game for the North Idaho College Cardinals, who lost 5-1 and 9-1 to the fourth-ranked Salt Lake Bruins in a Scenic West Athletic Conference softball doubleheader at Bruin Field on Saturday.
Jordan Schmerer drove in Meyers in the first game on a one-out single in the seventh inning for NIC.
Ariel Zimmerman struck out seven for Salt Lake (33-6, 24-4 SWAC). in the second game, with her lone hit allowed a Meyers home run in the second inning. Heather Bishop singled in the top of the fifth for NIC (14-25, 11-17), which is scheduled to host Southern Nevada in doubleheaders Friday and Saturday at Memorial Field.
