Update: Body found in Spirit Lake identified
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 13 years, 9 months AGO
The identity of the young man found partially submerged in Spirit Lake has been identified as Luke Anana-Kuewa, 18, of Spirit Lake. Family members were able to positively identify the teen through photographs taken by investigators at the scene.
An autopsy will take place in the next few days to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigators will now begin speaking to the people who may have seen Anana-Kuewa before he ended up in the icy waters in order to determine why he ended up on the small cove on the north end of the lake.
The Sheriff’s office wants to remind everyone that lake ice is very unstable this time of year and should not be trusted to support the weight of a person or animal. Additionally, the very cold water will cause persons in the water to be overcome by hypothermia in just minutes.
More information on this investigation will be released as it becomes available.
