Longtime Osburn Police Chief Spike Angle has announced he is running for Shoshone County sheriff.

"After being a part of our Shoshone County community my entire life, I feel I can serve the citizens with my knowledge of our surroundings, and knowing the pulse and wants of our citizens," Angle said in a press release. "I look forward to having the opportunity to become your next Shoshone County sheriff."

Angle started his law enforcement career as a reserve officer for the city of Wallace in the mid-70s and was hired as a deputy sheriff for Shoshone County. He later worked for Zanetti Brothers Inc. and the Galena mine.

In 1982, he was re-hired by Sheriff Frank Crnkovich and continued to work through the Dan Shierman administration. He made the rank of captain, until he accepted a position as the Chief of Police for the city of Osburn in 1998 until present.

"I believe I am very qualified for the position of Shoshone County's sheriff. I have worked with budgets my entire career," he said. "I have seen the ups and downs, both on county and city levels. I have learned to adjust to the budgets given, and to make the best of it. I have assisted in getting grants for the Shoshone County Domestic Violence Center, and also assisting in obtaining grants for needed equipment for our police departments."

Angle is running against Sheriff Mitch Alexander, and Gene Marquez, who recently retired from the Idaho State Police.
