OTHELLO - The Huskies look to be in mid-season form as the team swept a twin bill against Toppenish Friday, and split a doubleheader with Colville Saturday.

The wins improve Othello's record to 2-0 in the CWAC standings and 3-1 overall.

Two near perfect games were recorded against the Wildcats as the Huskies Kim Bullis pitched the first game of the doubleheader and threw a no hit shutout, and fanned 10 batters as Othello blanked Toppenish 28-0. Holly Fleshman pitched a perfect no-hit second game shutout, fanning seven Wildcats to lead the Huskies to a 26-0 win.

Game one

The Huskies got out of the gate early to take an 11-0 lead after the first inning. Othello brought nine runs across the plate in the second, seven in the third and one in the fourth.

The game was halted after the Wildcats batted  in the top of the fifth and the 10-run rule was invoked. Kylie Harper led the offensive attack for Othello with two hits in three at bats and a grand slam giving her 4 RBI on the game. Evelyn Miron had two home runs. Five Huskies doubled in the game, and Holly Fleshman added a solo shot.

Bullis and Sophie Rodriguez were battery mates for Othello.

Game two

The second game of the twin bill pretty much mirrored the first as Othello jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Huskies got eight runs in the bottom of the first inning, two in the second, 10 in the third and six runs in the fourth to win with ease.

The game was shortened to five innings as the mercy rule took effect.

Alyssa Martinez was the big stick for Othello with four hits in four at bats, including a grand slam and 4 RBI. Kalinda Kosters went three-for-three at the plate,

Daisy Salgado and Bullis had two hits in three plate appearances and Harper was 2-for-2 with a double.

Colville 1

COLVILLLE - Othello hit the road Saturday to match up with the Indians in a non-league doubleheader.

The Huskies took game one, but dropped game two to the team that placed second at state the last two years in 2A and 1A competition.

Othello came out strong in game one as the Huskies pushed four runs across the plate in the top of the first inning. That was all the production they needed as Colville managed only one run in he bottom of the third.

"Both teams were very evenly matched," coach Rudy Ochoa said.

Bullis went the distance to get the win for the Huskies. Salgado and Miron had a double each to lead the offensive attack.

Game  2

Fleshman, Othello's pitcher of record, had trouble holding the Indians in check in game two as she gave up three runs off seven hits. Three errors by the Huskies didn't help matters much.

Colville jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning and added one more run in the third and that was all they needed to defeat Othello.

"We had plenty of chances to score ... had bases loaded twice, but couldn't push the runs across," Ochoa said. "Colville scored on a 2-run home run in the first, and solo homer in the third."

The Huskies are back on the diamond tomorrow when they travel to East Valley for a league doubleheader.
