Chiefs tie series at 2

SPOKANE - Mitch Holmberg scored with a shot from the slot on an assist from Darren Kramer with 6:43 remaining in overtime to give the Spokane Chiefs a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Giants in Game 4 of their first round WHL Western Conference playoff series Wednesday night in front of 4,468 at the Spokane Arena.

The series is now tied at 2 games each heading back to Vancouver for Game 5 on Friday at 7:30. The win also assures a Game 6 in Spokane on Sunday at 6:05.

Kramer opened the scoring for Spokane in the first period on an assist from Mike Aviani to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead after the period. Liam Stewart scored his first playoff goal on an assist from Post Falls native Tanner Mort in the second period to give Spokane a 2-0 lead.

Austin Fyten put Vancouver on the board midway through the third period and Brendan Gallagher's fourth goal of the series tied the game at 2 with 31 seconds remaining.

Aviani finished with two assists for Spokane, which outshot Vancouver 28-23, including a 3-1 advantage in overtime.
