Fishing electronically
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 12 years, 9 months AGO
Steve Binyon of Mark's Marine will be giving his annual electronics seminar on Thursday.
Binyon is a retired pro fisherman who has published electronics articles in Bass Master and the Bass & Walleye boats publications.
He developed one of the early ground brush modifications used in both Minn Kota and Motor guides trolling motors and has more than 20 years experience at all levels of marine electronics.
"These units have basically become computers complete with operating systems and multiple levels of menus," according to a press release.
Mark's Marine fields about two calls a week during the fishing season from anglers who have set something on their graph and are unable to get it back to how they want it.
"This causes unneeded frustration to the consumer who would much rather be out fishing and having a good time," the release said.
Even though the focus will be on Lowrance electronics with this seminar, a lot of the material covered will be applicable to modern units from Garmin, Hummingbird, or other brands of fish finders as well.
The seminar, which is free, begins at 7.
A series of seminars are scheduled at Mark's Marine, 14355 N. Government Way, every Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. The seminars run through April 12.
There's coffee, cookies and door prizes.
Other seminars:
April 5: Trolling Lake Pend Oreille. By: Donnie and Sue Halk of Frisky Jenny Flies & Lake Charters
April 12: Walleye tips and techniques. Speaker to be announced.
