Moses Lake girls fare well at track invite

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake girls track and field team took third at the Ray Cross Invitational Track Meet.

Sadie Neilsen led the pack, breaking a Moses Lake High School record in the discus competition. Neilsen recorded a 130-foot, 2-inch throw. She also finished first in the shot put with a throw of 35 feet, 11 inches.

Neilsen wasn't the only record breaker of the weekend. The girls 4x100-meter relay team of Kayla Grigg, Alysha Overland, London Cleverly and Diamond Ranson, broke a school record, with a time of 50.84 seconds.

Paige Dyer was the first-place finisher in javelin with a throw of 111 feet, 4 inches; a personal best for the year so far.

Ransom finished second in the 100-meter dash with a 13.03 and was closely followed by Grigg who broke the tape in third place with a 13.13 second sprint. She also placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 32 feet, 9.75 inches.

Overland took third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47.85 seconds.

Stephanie Overland was fourth in the 200-meters with a time of 27.63 seconds. She also helped the 4x400-meter relay team, which includes Arlena Hannah, Keiley Garcia and Cassie Carpenter, take fourth place with a time of 4:22.3 minutes.

Garcia claimed fifth place in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:32 minutes.

In the long jump, Kimberly Baker took third with a jump of 16 feet, 3 inches and Selina Koon finished fifth with a jump of 15 feet, 9.75 inches.

Koon also tied for fifth in the high jump, clearing 4-feet, 10-inches.

The team is headed to the Southridge Invite Saturday.
