Rosie's shutout gives NIC softball split

MOSES LAKE, Wash. - One bad inning kept the North Idaho College softball team from sweeping the College of Southern Nevada in Scenic West Athletic Conference play Friday at Larson Playfield.

After Southern Nevada scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to win the first game 8-7, Jenifer Rosie pitched a four-hit shutout in the nightcap as North Idaho triumphed 4-0.

Rosie struck out six for NIC (16-25, 12-18 SWAC).

In the seventh inning of the opener, Erin Romero hit a two-run home run for Southern Nevada (16-26, 11-19), Alicia Firelein tied it with a three-run shot, and Hope Curtis broke the tie with a two-run homer.

Shelby Carter and Amber Meyers hit two-run homers for NIC.

The teams are scheduled to wrap up their four-game series today with another doubleheader in Moses Lake, starting at noon.
