PREP ROUNDUP: Trojan boys second at Moscow Invite

COEUR d'ALENE - Kenny Dodge shot a 1-under 71 to lead the Post Falls Trojans to a second-place finish at the Lake City Invitational held Monday at the Coeur d'Alene Public Golf Course.

"The kids battled through the rain," Lake City boys coach Jim Mauer said. "All in all we had a great day."

Chase Lincoln of Coeur d'Alene High tied for second medalist with Dodge, also shooting a 71 for the Vikings No. 2 team.

John Duffin shot a 76 for Coeur d'Alene, Dominic Tatroff's 84 was low score for Lake City, Derek Bayley's 74 paced Lakeland and Satchel Schetzle shot a 83 for St. Maries.

On the girls side, Taylor Hammon's 89 led Coeur d'Alene to a fifth-place finish. Lake City's Elsa Goodsen shot a career-best 92, Maddie Dodge carded a 80 for Post Falls, Chelsea Bayley's 80 was the low score for Lakeland, and Katelyn McQueen shot a 123 for St. Maries.

Most area teams will be back in action on Thursday at the Sandpoint Invitational at The Elks Golf Club in Ponderay.

Nunley shoots 39 to earn boys

PRIEST RIVER - Colton Nunley carded a 6-over-par 39 for the Priest River Spartans, who won an Intermountain League dual match 166-175 over Timberlake at the Ranch Club Golf Course.

Jeremy MacDonald shot a 40, Marcus Douglas 42 and Eric Mortensen 45 for the Spartans, who host Bonners Ferry today.

Dylan VanWingerden led the way with a score of 40 for the Tigers.

Jared Sanders and Sam Ross each turned in rounds of 44 and Sammy Johnson shot a 47 for Timberlake, which competes in the district tournament on Monday at Mirror Lake.

Timberlake's Madi Hauck shot a 47 but play was suspended in the girl's match after five holes.
