Leonard, a junior from Lakeland High in Rathdrum, had a breakout day in the women's shot put and discus at the Duane Hartman Invitational on Saturday in Spokane. Leonard won the shot put with a throw of 47 feet, 9 3/4 inches, which ranks ninth all-time at Idaho, and was second in the discus and top collegiate with a throw of 161-11, which is the third-best mark in the Western Athletic Conference this year, and sixth best at Idaho. "To have two career bests for that meet was huge and it brings a lot of confidence for her," Idaho track and field coach Julie Taylor said. "Kristine has huge upside, and I know she's going to continue to get better and better. She's a hard-working kid, so it's really rewarding as a coach to see her get that."
