Boating safety classes offered

The Kalispell Flotilla of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will present a boating safety class at the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks offices in Kalispell on Saturday, May 5, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with an hour for lunch.

The class will satisfy the state license requirements for 13- and 14-year-olds to operate a boat with a motor greater than 10 horsepower.

The class will cover all aspects of safe boating, from types of boats and required equipment to rules of the road and boat handling. For more information, call 756-6139 or 755-7096.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
