Gabrielle Stenger continues to play solid tennis for the Columbia Falls tennis squad.

On April 24, Stenger downed Simone Craft of Whitefish in No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-2 and Angela Bailey of Eureka 6-4, 6-2. On April 21, she beat Janet Moore of Dillon 6-0, 6-2.

“Gabrielle and Emma (Covill) continue to be our most consistent players,” coach Jerry Smalley said.

Smalley was also pleased with the improvement from other players.

“McKenna Emmerich stepped up with a fine game in No. 2 singles,” Smalley said.

Emmerich was nipped in her Whitefish match by Sloan Ellis 6-3, 4-6, 7-6, (4).

The Kats aren’t winning meets, but they are improving. They lost to Eureka 4-2 and the Bulldogs 5-2.

“Maggie Panasuk, Kira Kamrud, Courtney Seward and some of the other girls new to varsity this year are showing improved skills every mach they play,” Smalley said.

The boys did not have a match last week. Both teams travel to Polson on Saturday for matches against the Pirates and the Stevensville Yellowjackets.
