SANDPOINT - The good times keep coming for Schweitzer Mountain Resort.

In January, the ski mountain was the linchpin in securing Sandpoint the title of best ski town from Rand McNally. Ski Magazine also named Schweitzer the one of "the best mountains you've never skied." Now, CNN included Schweitzer Mountain among its list of the most underrated ski resorts in the world.

"It was a pretty big surprise," Schweitzer marketing coordinator Sean Briggs said. "(The writer) called us to fact-check it, so we were aware of it. But we thought the article would be about the most underrated skiing in the west or maybe the country. To be included in an article covering mountains around the world is pretty incredible."

The Panhandle ski resort was included among six other worthy contenders: Revelstoke Mountain Resort in British Columbia, Copper Mountain in Colorado, Grand Targhee Resort in Wyoming, Mad River Glen in Vermont, Tignes in France and Valle Nevado in Chile. In the article, writer Margaret Loftus praised Schweitzer for its short waits in the lift line, its generous and varied acreage and its majestic vistas.
